Senior Infrastructure and Security Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Infrastructure and Security Engineer to join a fast paced and growing company based in North Bristol. Reporting to the IT Manager and the Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the companies’ network and help to supervise and develop the Service Delivery Team.

As part of the role, you will:
  • Respond to end user queries (calls, emails, tickets, and alerts) – investigating them using troubleshooting skills to identify the root cause and implement fixes
  • Take ownership of all P1 incidents, documenting incidents as they progress, communicating with the business as needed. Creation of an Incident Report being mandatory.
  • Keep all Service Desk documentation up to date including but not limited to Supplier contact details, IT policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Network & Server diagrams and desk layouts with user details.
  • Proactively monitor but not limited to the network (WAN/LAN), phone system environment, devices (e.g., servers, switches, routers, etc) on the Elemis network and ERP alert spreadsheets.
  • Actively promote IT in a positive and professional manner and take responsibility for your team’s reputation. Promote and drive team collaboration and maintain team morale.
  • Set and maintain KPI’s and SLAs for the Service Desk in agreement with the Head of IT. Carry out monthly KPI reviews with Head of IT.
  • Help Head of IT and Head of Compliance to manage the risk registers for IT, PCI and GDPR.
  • Work 5 days out of 7 days, traveling as required.  Providing on call support as required.
  • Carry out any project set by the Head of IT in a timely manner and provide regular communicate to key stakeholders.
  • Actively promote IT in a positive and professional manner and take responsibility for your team’s reputation. Promote and drive team collaboration and maintain team morale.
To apply for this position, you will have:
  • Previous experience of a 1st and 2nd Line Service Desk Role
  • Strong Windows 7/10 and Microsoft knowledge
  • Experience working in a desktop environment having ensured the latest patches are deployed, images are held and updated, creating packages, and upgrading it.
  • Experience of service desk routines.
  • Experience with support and administering both Exchange server and Windows servers.
  • Experience with Active Directory (AD) & Group Policies
  • Good communication skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience working to set procedures and auditing requirements
  • A valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle
